VIA Motors X-Truck
At this year's Detroit Auto show, VIA Motors introduced the X-Truck. The vehicle is based on the Chevrolet Silverado platform and uses a combination of a 4.3-liter gas V-6 engine, a 150KW electric motor that uses a 24-kwn lilthium-ion batteries. With all this, the X-Truck is said to put out 402 horsepower and 300 lbs.-ft. of torque.
According to Bob Lutz a VIA board member, the truck is intended to provide a platform for companies what use work trucks, and offer a 300 percent improvement in fuel economy over gas powered work trucks. According to Lutz the X-Truck offers the towing, payload and availability of four-wheel drive that would be perfect for fleets. The company is also producing an SUV (based on the Suburban) and an fleet van, (based on the Express).
