Ram 1500 To Get Diesel Engine
Dodge announced that it will offer a 3,0 liter V-6 diesel engine to the 1500 Ram later this year. Labled as the EcoDiesel, the engine will be matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission. “Truck owners have been emphatically asking for it,” said Fred Diaz, President and CEO of the Ram brand, which is owned by Chrysler Group LLC. “There’s no doubt that being the only truck manufacturer to offer this game changing technology will provide Ram with a competitive advantage,” he said. The engine is an italian VM Motori, which has supplied diesel engines to Chrysler in the past, and is rated at 240 horsepower and 420 lbs.-ft. of torque.
