New Curt Xtra Duty And XD+ Hitches Have Increased GTW Ratings
CURT Manufacturing revamped it's line of Xtra Duty (XD) and Commercial Duty (CD) hitches while also introducing an Xtra Duty+ (XD+) and Commercial Duty+ (CD+) line to the world of heavy duty towing. CURT increased Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) by 2,000 lbs. or greater for both the Xtra Duty and Commercial Duty hitch lines. Xtra Duty hitches now have capacities up to 16,000 lbs. GTW and a Tongue Weight (TW) of 2,400 lbs. The addition of XD+ series hitches pushes those capacities up to 17,000 lbs. GTW and 2,550 TW. Commercial Duty hitches now have capacities of up to 18,000 lbs GTW and a TW of 2,700 lbs. In addition, the new CD+ series can tow an impressive 20,000 lbs.
The XD and XD+ line has a 2” receiver opening and the CD and CD+ line has a 2 ½” receiver opening. This line of hitches boasts large, powerful main bodies. The big safety chain plates feature wide openings for hooks and chains. CURT uses strong, grade-8 hardware rather than grade-5 hardware that many others use. The grade-8 hardware is made with yellow zinc which resists rust and corrosion. CURT uses 9/16” bolts on most applications that amp up the strength compared to 1/2” bolts that are used by most others. XD and CD hitches are completed with a durable carbide powder coat finish that will keep hitches looking like new. The Xtra Duty and Commercial Duty hitch line is now available.
