Top Five Truck Accessories That Are The Hot Sellers in 2014
These truck accessories are almost a sure bet to fly off your shelvesBy TTM Staff
Over the years, truck accessories come and go, but there are several products that are always at the top of the list, and remain as hot sellers. After speaking with several truck accessory retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers, here's five of the hottest products that expect to do well this summer, and should be at the top of your list, as well as your store's shelves.
1) Folding Tonneau Covers:
More manufacturers are realizing that there's an entire new segment of truck owner who wants the security of a hard tonneau but also wants the flexibility of easy removal. Folding tonneaus install in seconds and provide a weather-tight seal. Many also feature a lightweight foam core inner structure, with an abs or metal outer shell that's UV resistant. Because these tonneaus easily fold, they can be stored in a garage and be installed when necessary.
2) LED Lighting:
LED lights are replacing everything from the factory headlamps to accessory lights like fog and driving lights. This popular upgrade is also being incorporated into grilles as well as truck and SUV grille guards. Many LED light manufacturers offer a variety of bar-style and round style LED lighting options in sizes and illumination for many uses and mounting locations.
3) Cargo Carriers:
There's been a big push to organize the bed of pickup trucks, so new designs of cargo carriers are popular for not only the work-truck and fleet markets, but also with lifestyle markets as well. Manufacturers offer a variety of sliding cargo carriers, some with compartments and drawers to organize and carry tools and accessories. Many fit on to factory truck beds while others can be used in Cargo Vans. Some are also being incorporated into truck caps to provide storage solutions and easy access.
4) Leveling Kits:
Typically a product only found in off-road or tire shops, leveling kits are becoming hot sellers to truck accessory shops that sell and install these products. The products level out the vehicle's front-to-rear stance by raising the front-end one or two inches. This also allows the vehicle owner to run a slightly larger diameter set of tires, which are usually accompanied with a set of custom wheels. Leveling kits are inexpensive but offer good margins in labor costs and the ability to up sell truck owners on a set of wheels and tires.
5) Work-Truck Bed Caps:
If you're not already tapping into the commercial work-truck and fleet markets, you're missing out on a lot of sales. Cap manufacturers have spent lots of time and money creating work-truck bed caps that provide organization, easy access to tools, and security. The work-truck market has been strong and most truck accessory retailers feel it's still hasn't reached its peak.
