The Prefix Corporation Restyles A Ram Truck As An Off-Road Beast…By Dan Sanchez
The Michigan based Prefix Corporation is a company that is accustomed to building specialty and prototype vehicles for the automotive, motion picture, and other industries. When the idea came up to build a serious off-road vehicle that could be sold through dealerships nationwide, they knew it had to compete with the performance levels of the Ford Raptor SVT. The end result is the Minotaur, an off-road truck based on the Ram 1500 that has its DNA based in off-road racing.
The package starts under the performance bulge hood, which covers a 475 horsepower, 6.4-liter 392 Hemi V8. Power is also enhanced with a performance air intake system and Viper cat-back exhaust, that exits in front of the rear tires through a modified rocker panel.
The Minotaur isn’t all about power, however, as the off-road performance is the highlight of the truck’s performance. The KORE Tactical Series suspension system was designed by veteran off-road racer Kent Kroeker, and gives the Minotaur 14-inches of front and rear wheel travel from tubular steel upper A-arms, boxed lower A-arms, high-angle tie rods, and heavy-duty shock mounts to which are attached Fox 3.0 coil-over internal bypass shocks. With an additional four-inches of lift, the Minotaur runs a set of 35x12.5x20-inch General Grabber tires, mounted onto a set of KMC wheels with Minotaur badging on the center caps.
Prefix gave the truck an aggressive off-road stance by adding a set of wide body front fenders that extend the width of the truck11-inches in front and four at the rear. The Tequila Lime Green, paint and color matched bumpers, grille, and mirrors add to the truck’s clean and sporty appearance. In addition to the new fenders, a lower profile front fascia was also added as well as LED fog lamps, an aluminum front skid plate, and red-painted tow hooks.
The interior of the Minotaur features the logo embroidered to the headrest, with additional badging added to the dash and floor mats. The Minotaur logo replaces the factory Ram on the front grille, and a unique tailgate panel adds some customization to the bed of the vehicle.
While the Minotaur is definitely a beast off-road, it’s also built to be comfortable and get the attention that truck enthusiasts crave.
The Prefix Minotaur has wide fenders, and rear tailgate applique' that goes well with its aggressive off-road appearance.
The interior features a leather seat upgrade with the Minotaur logo on the headrest. Other interior details include a dash panel logo and embroidered floor mats.
The exhaust on the Minotaur exits out in front of the driver's side rear-wheel well and gives the truck a performance tone.
